Bay Bulls NL

Well the trip out of St Brides was easier than the trip in. There was only one major hill and that wasn’t even that bad. There seems to be constant challenges travelling in Labrador and Newfoundland. This time it was finding diesel. There was no diesel in St Brides. Everyone kept telling us it was in the next town. NOT! We were travelling on fumes and almost at our next destination before getting diesel. Of course someone needed my gerry can more than I did so I didn’t have that either. Like the Kelly Clarkson song goes “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”. Well that seems to be the motto for this trip.

With that being said we arrived at Blue Fin Campground just outside of St John’s with a full tank of diesel. The campground was bigger than I had imagined and very nice.

Finally, we were able to put the garage door down to enjoy the sunshine and view. Our neighbours arrived and were ready to party. They made drinks for us in return they wanted to see our toy hauler. Not a problem. After too many pina coladas we called it a day.

The only place in Newfoundland or Labrador our cell phones worked was here in St John’s. Rogers does not provide service for 99% of the province. So, we were able to book Gatherall’s Puffin & Whale Watch out of Bay Bulls. In the meantime I was trying to get an LOF for Precious at the dealership. Yep they said no problem we can book you in August 16, that’s the soonest time we have. Now that won’t work. I was talking to the owner of the park and he found a garage in Bay Bulls that could do it while we were out on the boat. Now that works for us. I dropped the truck off, they gave us a ride to Gatherall’s and away we go.

He popped his nose up for us
Yes, he was that close

After the boat trip we picked up Precious and drove south. As we came over a hill what was standing on the side of the road, a young moose. I’m glad he/she decided to run into the woods and not onto the road. People just don’t slow down for them.
Just standing there eating away
Thankfully he/she ran into the woods when a car flew by
Just before we got back to the rig we came across a small river with miniature boats in it. I had to stop and investigate. The story goes the owner of the boats who lives across the road makes and sells them during the long winter months. Each boat takes about two months to build and is an exact replica of the original one. The average cost is $550.
