Quebec City

Leaving the town of Piopolis behind, we travelled on asphalt roads towards Quebec City. We passed several small quaint towns with nothing more than a corner store. Getting to Quebec is not the problem. The problem arises when trying to find the place where you are going to spend the night. You see the city has very narrow roads and if you make one wrong turn you’re in trouble. Susan and I were lucky again, we followed a tour bus to the terminal which is right beside the harbour front. Others were not so fortunate they spent 2 -3 hours circling the city. Yeaks.

Yes, this is our first night of boondocking so it should be interesting. We have done it before but not with the new rig.

The next morning the weather did not look promising for a guided walking tour around Quebec City. Within minutes of heading out the skies opened up and it poured but like troopers we just continued on. The Quebec City was founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain. Located 250 km east of Montreal it is considered the cradle of French civilization. With a population of over 650,000, 95% are French speaking. Old Quebec was named a UNESCO world Heritage Site in 1985.

There are several murals throughout the city. One such mural is at the end of rue du Petit-Champlain and tells the story of the Cap-Blanc district. The mural depicts not only the bombardments and landslides, it shows the lives of the people who built, lived, worked, and set roots in the area.

As we continued our walk the rain stopped and the sun was really trying to come out. We rode the funicular which connects the lower town with the upper area.

After a very informative 3 hour walk we were all starved. The restaurant our guide suggested was the Spag Tini.

Even with the rain what a fantastic day touring Quebec City.
