Labrador City

With Quebec behind us and after 15 days of travelling we have finally made it to Labrador.
Had to take a picture
Labradorites know this Ode without looking
With our tour of Fermont completed we made the short 13 mile drive to Duley Lake Family Park which is home for a couple of nights. There are no amenities but they do have a central water station and dump station. We all filled up and dumped before choosing our parking spot.
Nice sign
Our site...no numbers here
From what I understand the park use to be an airport owned by the government. The now owners bought it and have started many renovations and improvements. He plans to provide water to all sites in the near future. That will be an undertaking. Electricity is via a generator and everyone in the park has got one. No rules here for geny use, they run them 24/7. It was a little difficult to sleep since the trailers behind me ran them all night.
No site planning throughout the park
Dismantling & burning the old outhouses
Since our tour of the iron ore mine was cancelled Susan and I ventured into Labrador City (the locals call it Lab City) to see the town but also to get diesel, do some grocery shopping, and find some WiFi. Good luck.
Lab City in the distance
As we got closer to the town I could understand why people call this home. The shear beauty of the country is amazing but coupled with the receptiveness of the locals to newbies is like know other. People are always willing to give you a hand. They don't even lock their doors here. When's the last time you didn't lock your door!
Fly fishing on the river outside Lab City wishing it was me
How can that be, there's a McDonald's and Tim Horton's in Lab City. We didn't get our Big Mac or Timmie's fix but we did use their WiFi. It was so painfully slow we gave up and went grocery shopping. After shopping we made our way back to the rig for a campfire & happy hour.
