Viva Las Vegas

Our intention of coming to Las Vegas was not to spend a lot of time doing the casino thing. I've been here 7 times before including running the Las Vegas marathon. Susan has been here once, she ran her first ever 5K here. We chose the Las Vegas RV Resort not only because of it's great reviews but it was far enough away from the downtown area and all the noise.

The resort has basically one rate whether you want standard or deluxe it's $29 per night. The staff checking us in were extremely friendly and helpful. We were escorted to our site and thank goodness because the park is quite confusing as to the layout.

The park does not have a lot of amenities but realistically people don't come to Vegas for a resort park, they come to gamble. In saying that they do have a beautiful pool which we took advantage of on a few occasions.

Most of the park is a concrete jungle but very well kept. They have a few doggy areas some enclosed some not. I noticed the staff helpers would spray the dog areas down each morning with a disinfectant. Nice touch.

Okay so we couldn't help ourselves, we decided to spend some time downtown walking the strip. It's change since we were here last but it hasn't if you know what I mean. Vegas will always be Vegas. Just to outdo the completion they rip down 15 year old casinos to build bigger and more elaborate ones.

We didn't get a chance to visit Freemont Street last time so away we go. Again being typical Vegas style it has changed but it hasn't. Freemont Street came about when Vegas started expanding away from the downtown area. New casino rose up along the strip while the downtown core fell into disrepair. To revitalize the area and make it safe again for tourists they created the elaborate Freemont Experience and what an experience it is.

I strolled Freemont about 12 years ago and yes it has changed. These days numerous street dancers, entertainers, artists, and the homeless can't forget them, all looking for a handout. Some good some not so good. The kids below with dad watching were not so good.

Vegas succeeded in bringing tourists to Freemont Street in droves. People were definitely having a good time but who called the police.
